Diablo II v1.11 Patch Announced

Posted by inpheaux on July 29th, 2005 at 2:36 pm

No, this is not a joke. Diablo II v1.11 is happening. Battle.net says so.
Details are sketchy, but it seems there's going to be your usual set of tiny tweaks and changes and updates, plus giant neon day-glo green Diablo and a brand new Super-Unique "Lilith", who appears to be a pallet-swap of Andariel.
The Battle.net mainpage [...]

Updated impressions of Shadow of the Colossus

Posted by inpheaux on July 29th, 2005 at 11:54 am

G4-TechTV's yearly irrelevant and over-hyped super mega hype-fest 3000 "G-Phoria" has come and gone. Generally, this is nothing really worth talking about, since it's nearly as unwatchable as Spike TV's similar pointless awardshow / 2-hour long EA Commercial, but apparently this year there were some demos set up, so that means news and news is [...]

Doom Movie trailer released

Posted by inpheaux on July 27th, 2005 at 9:17 am

It debuted at ComicCon back on the 17th, and here it is finally on the internets. And it's not a lame camcorder rip! It's a real proper trailer release, in pretty decent quality.
Or, at least, the actual video file is pretty decent quality. The content, well, decide for yourself.
Things to watch for: plot only vaguely [...]

Civilization 4 Preview

Posted by inpheaux on July 26th, 2005 at 5:06 pm

GameSpot was recently permitted to give a preview copy of Civilization 4 a spin. Civ IV, Firaxis' second shot at making a sequel worthy of the Civilization name, is - as always - much like it's predecessors. Start a civilization, grow, learn new technologies, and then crush opposing civilizations with the might of your [...]

Go Go Microsoft Hype-Machine

Posted by inpheaux on July 25th, 2005 at 11:44 am

Not to be outdone by Sony's "Playstation Meeting" last week, Microsoft has wandered over to Japan to hold their own "Xbox Summit" hype-fest. I've waded through all the stuff available and didn't really find anything incredibly shocking or new, or even interesting, but then again I'm not exactly a rabid Microsoft fanboy. The only things [...]

EyezMaze updates GROW and Tontie

Posted by inpheaux on July 25th, 2005 at 9:30 am

EyezMaze, Japanese developer of quite a few great little flash games, recently updated two of their most well-known games: GROW and Tontie.
The new version of GROW, called GROW RPG, is much like it's predecessor GROW v3. Drag things from the sides to the middle, watch them grow and do . . stuff. The original was [...]

Majesco Games Down (but apparently not) Out (for now)

Posted by King_Andy on July 23rd, 2005 at 8:05 pm

IMPORTANT UPDATE - 24 JUL 2005 @ 11:35ET - The CGN guys screwed up, and confused Majesco with Hip Interactive. Majesco, despite their severely reduced earnings estimations, their massive $20 Million Operating Loss (which is only expected to rise), and the four pending class action lawsuits coming from their irate stockholders, is actually not [...]

Jack Thompson is still on the warpath

Posted by inpheaux on July 22nd, 2005 at 4:30 pm

Oh Jack Thompson, what won't you lash out against?
I didn't properly introduce this guy when I referenced him in my GTA:SA tirade earlier in the week. Jack Thompson is the fearmongering anti-gaming pundit behind the wildly insightful and not in any way biased website StopKill. Thompson was one of the "experts" whose zealotry helped push [...]

PS3 news from yesterday’s Playstation Meeting

Posted by inpheaux on July 22nd, 2005 at 2:49 pm

A ton of info was released yesterday at Sony's "Playstation Meeting" press conference / feeding frenzy. Commenting on all of it would really be overkill, and I think after the GTA:SA article, I've written more than my fill for the week. So instead I'm just going to hit the big ones:

Mobile Suit Gundam - [...]

Aonuma and Miyamoto apologize for Wind Waker’s failings

Posted by inpheaux on July 22nd, 2005 at 7:37 am

Furthermore, they promise Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess will feature none of the same problems. Here's the pertinent quote from producer Eiji Aonuma:
At the end of the production we fought against the clock and there were parts that I was forced to approve even though it didn’t feel complete. I apologise that we didn’t fix [...]
