Golf? Public Beta?
Posted by inpheaux on July 11th, 2005 at 2:37 amI should really be asleep right now, in preparation for another exciting day of Work, but instead I'm playing games at 02:28 so I can feel informed when I tell all you wonderful people about them.
Chronic Logic is another one of those few indie game devs I keep my eye on, as I know I can depend on them to churn out wonderful things I'll probably enjoy. In the past, they've been responsible for such games as Bridge Builder / Bridge IT / Pontifex / Bridge Construction Set, Gish, Triptych, etc. Their latest is "Golf?", and it has a quite fitting name. It's golf, but not exactly. It combines the most innovative controls for any golf game I've ever played, and combines it with surreal wireframe player characters in an even more surreal environment. It also has multiplayer (which I haven't properly checked out yet, since it's 02:33), and a golf cart (with 'rocket juice').
If the beta is any indication, this is going to be another must-buy from ChronicLogic, whenever they decide to start charging for it, that is. As it is right now, it is the greatest interpretation of any traditional sport I have ever come across, and I can only see it getting better. So please, do go check this out while it's free.
