Hip Interative Goes Under

Posted by inpheaux on July 12th, 2005 at 2:02 pm

If a company you've never heard of goes bankrupt in a forest, does it make a sound? Apparently it makes a very small sound on the internet, but no one cares except those who lost money.

Hip Interactive was in the process of making one of the 73 Call of Cthulhu games currently in development, plus an official George Romero City of the Dead game. Luckily, they were making the "Not Resident Evil" Call of Cthulhu game, of which we only ever got to see a single prerendered video, as opposed to Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth, the FPS for Xbox and PC which has been in development since shortly after the dawn of time.

Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth is still slated for a Fall 2005 release, if you want to believe this date unlike all the other previous release dates is up to you.

Update: FROM THE FUTURE, or Europe, or the future in Europe.

Apparently only one of the seven companies called "Hip Interactive" is going under. This means all those games you probably didn't know about until this post are still being produced. Hooray?
