Posted by inpheaux on July 21st, 2005 at 4:05 pm

Got a Nintendo.com account? Is it loaded with registered games and consoles? Like, ~30 games total, a DS, a Gamecube, several DS games, etc? Super. Log in and hit this page. If Nintendo loves you, they'll tell you so, and you'll be getting a free copy of the upcoming DS game Nintendogs weeks in advance.
Unfortunately, [...]

ESRB pulls Rockstar’s rating

Posted by inpheaux on July 20th, 2005 at 9:31 pm

After weeks of shenanigans, ridiculously misplaced political involvement, inane commentary from traditional news media which knows nothing of the subject, and more misinformation than one story really needs, the ESRB has formally pulled the M rating of Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. They have given two options: completely remove the "explicit content", resubmit it [...]

Bungie pushes Halo 2 Update

Posted by inpheaux on July 20th, 2005 at 4:37 pm

At some time earlier today, Bungie pushed an update to Halo 2 through Xbox Live. This would normally not be anything worth mentioning, but this update has some added twists. First, this is a super-anti-cheating patch. If you've screwed around with your game content, you get banned. Instantly. Period. No questions asked.
This too wouldn't be [...]

Shadowrun video game license not going to waste

Posted by inpheaux on July 20th, 2005 at 10:17 am

Unfortunately, it's also not being made into what most of us would like to see.
For those of you unfamiliar with the series, Shadowrun is a pen & paper RPG from awhile back. Not quite as ancient as D&D, but not exactly new either. The basic thing that sets it apart from every other generic fantasy [...]

Resident Evil 5 Announced

Posted by inpheaux on July 20th, 2005 at 7:42 am

Details are sketchy and unconfirmed at the moment, but it seems that Resident Evil 5 has been announced in this week's issue of Famitsu, a Japanese gaming magazine. I'd mirror the images, but it looks like all copies that were Out There have had all their bandwidth consumed. Here's what's been gleaned from those images [...]

Infinium Labs still not dead

Posted by inpheaux on July 19th, 2005 at 11:23 am

I had to make a 'Humor' category just for this article.
I love the Phantom. I love how it's a giant shameless scam to rake in venture capital, I love how they somehow dragged Kevin Bacchus into it, I love how their WORLD HEADQUARTERS is in a strip mall in Sarasota, I love how even [...]

EA snags Valve’s meatspace distribution rights

Posted by inpheaux on July 18th, 2005 at 4:05 pm

Well, it's been speculated that this would happen for awhile, since Valve's split with Vivendi Universal left them without a distributor to shuffle boxes around the world, now we just now for sure who it gets to be. It isn't quite the doomsday scenario of "EA buys Valve", but it's still the two of them [...]

Breaking your Microsoft NDA in 3 easy steps

Posted by inpheaux on July 18th, 2005 at 10:40 am

Brag about your Dad's great new job at Microsoft on an internet forum

Mention about how he was given a Production Xbox 360 to take home

When no one believes you, post pictures of your goofy self playing Halo 2 on the tiniest and most-ghetto tv ever

Then, while you're enjoying being grounded for the [...]

Doom Movie might actually not suck

Posted by inpheaux on July 18th, 2005 at 10:15 am

Or, at the very least, it won't suck as much as something from Uwe Boll.
The first teaser trailer of the forthcoming Rock-infused movie adaptation of Doom was shown yesterday at ComicCon. Why a cam of it hasn't surfaced yet, I am not sure. The important part is that it sounds much less lame than it [...]

First Two Reviews Posted

Posted by inpheaux on July 15th, 2005 at 11:49 am

The first two in-house reviews have been posted. The games first to be up on the block are the highly technical space-flight simulator Orbiter for PC and the hilariously ultra-violent balance-beam simulator God of War for PS2. I'm sorry they don't both have pretty pictures, we haven't quite figured out how we'll be doing pictures [...]
