Week-1 Recap / Update
Posted by inpheaux on July 15th, 2005 at 11:38 amRight! Well, we've made it through our first week of existence, and I think we're doing quite well for a new site. Few things I'd like to cover before getting back to Real News. First, I've made a few tweaks to the design of the site. It's nothing major or noticable really, just know that [...]
How Many MMORPG’s Does One Fledgling System Need?
Posted by inpheaux on July 15th, 2005 at 9:32 amApparently three is not enough. At ComicCon yesterday, Marvel announced that they've handed over exclusive MMORPG rights to Microsoft, resulting in an Xbox 360-exclusive Marvel-based MMORPG some time. It definitely won't be out in time for launch, and probably won't be out before Nintendo and Sony get their next-generation offerings out the door, but it'll [...]
A Review Does not Appear in this space.
Posted by King_Andy on July 14th, 2005 at 7:29 pmAs many of you may have noticed, over the past week or so all the more artistic gaming blogs and even major news media outlets have been falling over themselves to praise "Facade", a self-proclaimed "one-act interactive drama". I like to think of myself as someone who enjoys more than twitch reflexes and violence, who [...]
Shadow of the Colossus Release Date
Posted by inpheaux on July 14th, 2005 at 12:04 pmUPDATE - 2005-08-14 - looks like things have changed again. Shadow of the Colossus is now slated for North American release on October 18th, 2005.
The original (and now incorrect) article follows . . .
It's not a major change, as it's the date we've been hearing for months now, but now it's official. Shadow of [...]
Battlefield 2 Expansion Details
Posted by inpheaux on July 14th, 2005 at 11:39 amAn expansion announcement before the original game is made playable? Why not!? This is EA we're talking about, they challenge everything.
Quoth IGN:
Battlefield 2: Special Forces, as the name implies, pits two of six new Special Forces groups against each other (not the three army battle we thought might be added) in more concentrated environments than [...]
Majesco’s CEO Quits, Stock Dives
Posted by inpheaux on July 13th, 2005 at 9:50 amTime for more potentially-horrible news: Majesco, publisher of a lot of stuff, including the wonderful wonderful amazing game-of-the-year candidate Psychonauts, seems to be going down the tubes. A few months ago they published some slightly-bizarre press releases about how "Wow guys, we're TOTALLY doing great! We're a great solid company, have we mentioned we're great? [...]
Battlefield 2 Comedy of Errors
Posted by inpheaux on July 12th, 2005 at 5:04 pmHere, have a timeline:
EA ships the game with a broken server browser, Gamespy's browser doesn't initially work, and in general there's a laundry list of things to be fixed.
Some of this stuff magically gets rectified.
EA ships a 1.01 patch, full of so many more problems PLUS a giant memory leak that casually blows up servers [...]
Hip Interative Goes Under
Posted by inpheaux on July 12th, 2005 at 2:02 pmIf a company you've never heard of goes bankrupt in a forest, does it make a sound? Apparently it makes a very small sound on the internet, but no one cares except those who lost money.
Hip Interactive was in the process of making one of the 73 Call of Cthulhu games currently in development, plus [...]
Supreme Commander Preview
Posted by inpheaux on July 12th, 2005 at 10:25 amThe crew over at GameSpy posted a rather nicely sized preview of Supreme Commander last week. They also have 59 screenshots of the game up now. Supreme Commander is the forthcoming 'spiritual successor' to Total Annihilation, an older RTS which you should really hunt down if you're not familiar with it. The most exciting thing [...]
Golf? Public Beta?
Posted by inpheaux on July 11th, 2005 at 2:37 amI should really be asleep right now, in preparation for another exciting day of Work, but instead I'm playing games at 02:28 so I can feel informed when I tell all you wonderful people about them.
Chronic Logic is another one of those few indie game devs I keep my eye on, as I know I [...]
