Nebulous Metroid Prime 3 information

Posted by inpheaux on August 4th, 2005 at 7:07 pm

Yes, this is Nintendo Revolution-related news. Yes, this means you can very easily just go somewhere else now because you won't actually learn anything whatsoever.

As much as I love Nintendo and everything they or their developers do, the effective media blackout they've got going on right now is getting somewhat annoying. It'd be one thing if it was a real proper media blackout where they just weren't saying anything at all, but instead they keep pumping out "information" but it's all just fluff, and not even marginally interesting fluff.

Here, have a quote from this amazing and insightful interview with some of the guys at Retro Studios, brains behind the Metroid Prime series:

Interviewer: Will we see new features in Metroid Prime 3 that will incorporate the revolutionary aspect of the Revolution controller?
Retro Studios: We plan on taking advantage of a number of new features in the Revolution, including the controller.

Stop the presses! Retro Studios is making a first-party game for Nintendo! And it's Metroid! And it's going to use the controller!!!!!!!!!!!

The only real news out of this whole article is simple: Metroid Prime 3 is it. That's all. After Metroid Prime 3, Retro will be leaving poor Samus alone for awhile and moving on to something else currently unknown. This, of course, won't be the end of the Metroid franchise. There's still GBA games [Fusion 2? Please? I just want to know who 'Adam' is/was.], DS games [Hunters is not vaporware! Nintendo promises it's really being released! Oh, and the pinball game we aren't talking about.], and future Revolution games like Smash Bros. Revolution.

Anyways, if you want to torture yourself with some high-class Nintendo PR, please feel free. The original interview has been posted over at Cube Europe's Forums and IGN has "analysis". But don't say I didn't warn you, it's pretty mind-numbing.
