Chronic Logic Trashes RTSes
Posted by Akaishi on September 28th, 2005 at 3:20 amNo, it's no kind of political statement. Chronic Logic, the developers of such marvels as Pontifex II and Tryptich, has released "Trash": a 3D realtime strategy buildfest set in a post-apocalyptic future of ruins, Mad Max-ish combat vehicles and bizarre mutants.
While on cursory examination it doesn't seem to bring much new to the genre, it [...]
Equal Rights in the Mushroom Kingdom
Posted by inpheaux on September 27th, 2005 at 11:40 amPrincess Peach, despite being royalty, has always been a second class citizen to Nintendo. She's always been around as a character solely used to pad out a larger roster, a trend that started way back in SMB 2, and continues today in every Mario game ever. If you can play as Peach, it's safe to [...]
No countdown page has ever lived up to the hype
Posted by inpheaux on September 27th, 2005 at 10:39 amThere. I said it.
I didn't report on "OrigenXbox360" back when it first surfaced earlier this month because it seemed to be all fluff. Sure, there were your standard rabid fanboy hopes and dreams being strewn about, but I didn't buy it. This isn't how Microsoft promotes a massive game announcement or release. And hell, something [...]
Day of Defeat: Source released, plus other Steam news
Posted by inpheaux on September 27th, 2005 at 9:00 amAs we reported earlier, Day of Defeat: Source was successfully released right on time yesterday. Not really a whole lot to say about this, It's DoD:S, we already told you all about it, and all 47 different ways you can go pay for it now. Now you can. So go do it.
In other Steam news, [...]
Square Enix consumes Taito
Posted by inpheaux on September 23rd, 2005 at 10:43 amJust as we reported a month ago, Square Enix has gobbled up Taito. Yesterday . . or today . . or something (time zones are FUN!), Squeenix announced that they pulled $564 Million out of their magical bag of cash to buy up 93.7% of Taito's stock. As of next Wednesday Taito will officially become [...]
Nintendo pushes yet another GBA out the door
Posted by inpheaux on September 22nd, 2005 at 8:47 amNo, it's not the GameBoy Micro, it's the old standard GBA-SP. . . but now it has a new screen.
Specifically, it appears to be a GBA-SP-sized screen that uses the same brighter screen tech used in the GameBoy Micro. The updated units are reportedly hitting retailers this week, and it's coming in two colors, "Graphite" [...]
Serious Sam 2 Demo – Out Tomorrow
Posted by inpheaux on September 20th, 2005 at 1:41 pmThe Shack reported earlier that the Serious Sam 2 demo will be released tomorrow. In the 250mb pack, you get:
One Level
All the game's weapons [!!!]
One Vehicle
Several bizarre enemy types, potentially including the nice green football player to the right up there
Ability to play it solo, on a LAN or online.
Online play seems limited to only [...]
We Love Katamari – In Stores Everywhere
Posted by inpheaux on September 20th, 2005 at 1:29 pm(Except Europe. Sorry Europe! You get to wait until 2006! Oh, and Australia. And I guess everywhere else that isn't North America or Japan. Sorry rest-of-the world!)
The day is finally here! For those of us who weren't blessed enough to be on the west coast and thereby able to get the game from Target, or [...]
Revolution Controller. Seriously.
Posted by inpheaux on September 15th, 2005 at 11:24 pmI am at a loss for words. In a bad way. Moments ago, this . . thing . . was shown at the Tokyo Game Show. This is the Revolution controller. Apparently a tv remote made by Apple. Before I dive into my own thoughts about all this, have some links:
IGN's 'Live' Keynote Coverage
IGN's In-depth [...]
Sam & Max license gets a new loving home
Posted by inpheaux on September 15th, 2005 at 9:59 amBrace yourselves. This story is proof that here in the amazing dystopic world of 2005, where nothing truly wonderful and good and just never seems to occur, sometimes if you hope just enough everything turns out right.
It's been over a year since Sam & Max's expectedly-triumphant return was cancelled by Lucasarts. Everyone was horribly disappointed [...]
