3 New Reviews: War, Giants and Strogg

Posted by inpheaux on November 4th, 2005 at 6:36 am

We've got three new reviews for you today. I don't have anything amazing to say about them, apart from the fact that this is the widest variety of reviews we've posted so far. Three platforms, and games which range from "horrible" to "mediocre" to "unquestionable game of the year candidate". Guessing which is which will [...]

Mother 3 “Nearing Release”

Posted by inpheaux on November 4th, 2005 at 4:13 am

Two months back we reported on what was then being theorized to be a formal announcement regarding Mother 3 - or Earthbound 2. It didn't happen. Now it has.
In a message posted to his website yesterday, Mother/Earthbound series creator Shigesato Itoi had this to say on the subject (as loosely translated by Tomato of Starmen.net [...]

Coming Soon: another giant Star Wars Galaxies trainwreck

Posted by inpheaux on November 3rd, 2005 at 4:16 am

Oh Sony, what won't you do to alienate your audience?
SOE is currently in the process of testing another massive overhaul to how Star Wars Galaxies works. There aren't exactly charts keeping track of all the different bits of drama that spawn from MMORPGs, so I don't have a definitive comparative list here, but I'm pretty [...]

New Star Wars: Empire at War trailer released

Posted by inpheaux on November 1st, 2005 at 1:32 pm

Earlier today, LEC released a brand new trailer for Empire at War, you can check it out here (Quicktime required). If it is anywhere near representative of the final product, it looks like the teams at LucasArts and Petroglyph may have finally put together an RTS worthy of the Star Wars franchise.
Sure, it's been tried [...]

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion pushed to 2006

Posted by inpheaux on November 1st, 2005 at 10:15 am

There isn't a whole lot to say here. Both the PC and Xbox360 versions of Oblivion have been pushed to Fiscal Q2 2006 (Spring-ish). This is - of course - disappointing, but I can't say I'm not surprised. When videos were out at E3, I thought "wow, that looks pretty far along, but it doesn't [...]

Here, have some Reviews

Posted by inpheaux on October 24th, 2005 at 1:36 am

Hey. We're not dead. We've just been . . you know, Busy. Busy desperately trying to chip tiny portions out of our already busy schedules to fit in some Quality Time in which to play the 8.6 billion games being released this month. For instance, I know that I've been spending every waking moment for [...]

Valve pushes first “Steam 3″ update

Posted by inpheaux on October 12th, 2005 at 2:35 am

Earlier today, Valve pushed the first of several upcoming incremental updates leading towards "Steam 3". Steam 3 is the next version of the Steam platform, and prominently features a UI overhaul (which now makes it the fattest, roundest, and most-non-native windows application I run), and a much tigher integration with the Steam purchase / delivery [...]

Unofficial Kings Quest Sequel Shut-down. Fans feign shock.

Posted by King_Andy on October 10th, 2005 at 12:14 am

Recently LucasArts Entertainment shut down a fan effort to reproduce Maniac Mansion for more modern hardware. The fan game was to be called Maniac Mansion Deluxe, and included all new art and software, but it's gone now; shut down by LucasArts' legal department. Now Vivendi Universal (current owners of the sizable Sierra game library) has [...]

Blizzard teases us again

Posted by inpheaux on October 6th, 2005 at 7:08 pm

It must be that time again. Time for another Blizzard teaser page. Blizzard loves teaser pages, they do them more often than any other company I can think of. Usually they're a bit more complex than the one currently up at Battle.net, but . . whatever. I'll take what I can get.
The flash applet shown [...]
