Half-Life 2: Aftermath gets a releasedate

Posted by inpheaux on January 9th, 2006 at 10:17 pm

It's been a few months since we last heard anything about the upcoming HL2 single player expansion pack. Today, Planet Half-Life brings us news straight from Doug Lombardi:

"Aftermath and Half-Life 2: Platinum are due out on April 24.
HL1 DM will be included in Aftermath, and released fairly close to the same time."

"Half-Life 2: Platinum" is another EA-published HL2 compilation pack, which will include everything from the Source Premier Pack, plus Aftermath and HL1 DM, but you get actual discs. Gamestop currently has a price of $49.99 on HL2:Platinum, $10 cheaper than the current Source Premier Pack, but expect the Source Premier Pack to get updated soon with an updated price.

Oh, and for clarification, HL1 DM is - obviously - a source port of the original Half-Life's deathmatch mode. I'm not entirely sure I care about HL1 DM, because by the time I jumped on the Half-Life bandwagon, TFC was already available. Oh well, whatever. At least it's coming free with Aftermath.

In HL2 Mod News, the Dystopia dev team released their fourth update to the Dystopia Demo. For those who missed our previous report, Dystopia is a multiplayer class-based objective-based cyberpunk mod for HL2. Oh, and it's really good. There's a whole slew of new features, as seen in the changelog, but the really big thing is the addition of two new levels. So definitely go check it out if you haven't already.
