Nintendo of America Executive Promotions – All Hail President Reggie
Posted by inpheaux on May 25th, 2006 at 5:44 pmApparently we get two rather hefty Nintendo press releases today. We already covered the first one earlier today where they announced the top-price of the Wii, and where Nintendo basically announced that they're still making quite sizable and growing profits. Now one from Nintendo of America.
Three promotions have been made at the top of the executive food chain. The notable one is that Nintendo of America's public face - Reggie Fils-Aime - has been promoted from VP of Sales/Marketing to President and Chief Operating Officer. Reggie has largely been the guy responsible for getting the stateside gaming public to accept the DS - often by force - and has now moved his efforts to getting people to suspend any pre-judgements of the Wii until they have a chance to play it. It's a hard job, but if anyone can do it it's Reggie. And now he'll be doing it from a brand new position of power.
We like Reggie around here at DirectionalPad. He makes keynotes interesting because he seems to actually care. He makes otherwise boring stuff interesting by taking an internet-tough-guy approach to just about everything. Mostly, we like him because despite being an executive (and now, President) of the American wing of a giant iconic gaming corporation, he's still perfectly cool with wasting time meeting geeks over Pictochat during E3.
Now if only Reggie could deliver us some solid release details. . .
