Prey demo now available for PC, 360 demo Real Soon Now

A short 11 years after we first heard about a little game named Prey from a little subdivision of Apogee no one had ever heard of, we've finally got tangible proof that it's really being released this time. The single and multiplayer demo of the Prey re-start, announced last year, has finally hit the internet.

3DRealms, stately home of perpetual development cycles, has a convenient list of presently known mirrors. Take your pick, we're long past the Gamespot "Exclusive" period. Xbox 360 kids will have to wait until later today-ish to get the demo. 3DRealms wanted to have it officially available at midnight alongside the PC demo release, but according to the great withholder of games George Broussard, that didn't happen. Fingers have been pointed, people were blamed, but apparently that doesn't get demos out the door. They expect it'll be available on XBL Marketplace later today, but can't really be sure.

Well, the big question is "is it good?" with a possible followup of "was it worth the 11 year wait?", well . . we don't know yet. I liked what I played at E3, and was impressed with the demo videos I watched, but haven't had a chance yet to check the demo. We'll be updating the comments with our impressions and opinions as soon as we have a chance to form said impressions and opinions.

Prey is still on track for a June 10th simultaneous PC and Xbox 360 release.
