Enemy Territory: Quake Wars slips to 2007

Posted by inpheaux on July 13th, 2006 at 3:23 pm

Sadly, there isn't a whole lot to say beyond the headline. Initially slated for Fall 2006, the game has slipped into the usually deadly when-its-done territory.

I was all excited about it, too. What with the in-depth guided tour of the game the guys from Splash Damage gave at E3, plus the fact that I actually got to play it in a multiplayer setting. Luckily, it's not all bad news, since the reasons cited for the delay are two of the most important things when it comes to a game with a strong multiplayer component: Polish and Balance.

This whole issue of slippage stems from a Developer Diary over at GameSpy, which is a good read even though it features the somewhat depressing delay revelation. But again, do you want an unbalanced game now, or a wonderful polished abuse-resistant game in a couple months? Sure, it alters the Fall/Winter 2006 PC Gaming schedule for most of us, but it's not like there isn't enough other stuff coming out. . . unless Neverwinter Nights 2 and Unreal Tournament 2007 both slip too.
