EGM confirms 12 new tracks for Guitar Hero 2!

Posted by inpheaux on August 31st, 2006 at 6:17 pm

Word on the street is that the October issue of EGM, which won't be hitting shelves until September 12th, has shown up on the doorstep of NeoGAF forum user "_leech_". Contained inside was an updated list of "confirmed" tracks for Guitar Hero 2, conveniently 12 songs longer than what we had already. Here's the list, [...]

Duke Nukem Forever’s dev team evaporates

Posted by inpheaux on August 30th, 2006 at 8:39 pm

This news may be too shocking and completely unexpected for some users.
Looks like a large chunk of DNF's dev team has managed to escape the crazy grasp of George Broussard, King of Delays, Master of Vaporware. Shacknews has learned that over the past 8 months anywhere from a third to a majority of the dev [...]

Sad news of the day: HL2:E2, Team Fortress 2 and Portal pushed to FEB 2007

Posted by inpheaux on August 24th, 2006 at 7:39 pm

We probably should have all seen this one coming. If it was just one game, we'd be expecting a Winter 2006 release, but now it's coming with Team Fortress 2 and Portal, two amazing must-buy games in their own right that I'd really like them to take their time on. Plus there's the whole "Simultaneous [...]

Nintendo confirms new US DS Lite colors

Posted by inpheaux on August 24th, 2006 at 10:44 am

Just a quickie thismorning: today, Nintendo confirmed that they will be releasing two new colors for DS Lites on 13 SEP 2006. The new colors are Onyx (black) and Coral Pink (uh . . pink, I guess). No-brainers, right?
With this, the only colors still exclusive to certain territories are the two blues only available in [...]

Guitar Hero 2: Two more songs announced, plus weird stuff [Update!]

Posted by inpheaux on August 22nd, 2006 at 8:33 pm

The Guitar Hero 2 news keeps trickling in. In addition to the 11 tracks we knew about already, today we've got #12: Guns 'n Roses - Sweet Child of Mine. Gamespot's got a video of it. The vocal track sounds kinda off, but at least it isn't as bad as the cover of Trippin on [...]

F.E.A.R. MP goes free in a couple hours

Posted by inpheaux on August 17th, 2006 at 9:20 am

For reasons that are somewhat lost on me, it seems SierraVivendi Universal Games and Monolith have decided to rip the multiplayer mode out of last year's semi-hit FPS F.E.A.R. and make it a standalone game. Oh, and they're releasing it for free. In about two hours.
They're calling the "new" game "F.E.A.R. Combat", and it's exactly [...]

PLAYSTATION 3: A CAPITAL IDEA

Posted by Metallian on August 12th, 2006 at 3:58 pm

The feature list is big. The price is big. The unit itself may weigh as much as a small child. In keeping with this, Sony is letting it be known that the name will be big as well. Specifically, "PLAYSTATION 3®". Not "PlayStation", Not "Playstation". Refer to it with any lowercase in there and I [...]

DPad sorta goes to SIGGRAPH 2006

Posted by King_Andy on August 5th, 2006 at 6:59 pm

This year the Association for Computing Machinery's SIGGRAPH convention was on the East coast for the first time in about a decade, thereby enabling me to attend it. SIGGRAPH-the-organization is a subset of the ACM, specifically the "Special Interest Group on Graphics and Interactive Techniques". Every year they hold a nice big convention (also [...]

KillerNIC Pricing and Availability announced

Posted by inpheaux on August 5th, 2006 at 1:58 am

About a month ago, we reported on what's probably the most pointless extreem-ified PC component ever created: The KillerNIC. A Network card with it's very own processor, so you can offload the decidedly processor-unintensive process of managing the network stack, ostensibly to make your computer amazing. Well, they've got a pre-order page up now, and [...]

Downtime

Posted by inpheaux on August 3rd, 2006 at 5:51 pm

Whoops, something blew up at 1&1 again. Conveniently, it blew up right before I was scheduled for some oral surgery. Everything's back up now, though. Except me. I'm going down now.
