KillerNIC Pricing and Availability announced

About a month ago, we reported on what's probably the most pointless extreem-ified PC component ever created: The KillerNIC. A Network card with it's very own processor, so you can offload the decidedly processor-unintensive process of managing the network stack, ostensibly to make your computer amazing. Well, they've got a pre-order page up now, and have thus set a price for this wonderful irrelevant piece of hardware.
Are you sitting down?
Looks like the nearly year-old CNN Money article we found wasn't far from the mark. They've got a special pre-order limited edition low low price of $279.99.
Now, to be fair, that $279.99 doesn't just get you a hilariously overpriced network card, you also get F.E.A.R., a $30 game you probably already have, assuming you're a SUPER HARDKORE GAMER with a disposable income high enough that you can justify spending $280 on a network card. You also get a stylish KillerNIC t-shirt, that boldly proclaims "I'll buy anything if you told me it'd bump my FPS". Which is a lie, it really just seems to indicate that you may in fact be a "KILLER" which I'm sure will make it a wonderful shirt for going through airport security.
The initial limited run of the KillerNIC is slated to ship the last week of August. Be the first at your local lan-parties to be publicly ridiculed for wasting $280 on this card! Amaze your friends with the ability to increase your latency at will! Lose any respect anyone had for you! All for the low low price of $280! Quantities are limited! Act now!
