Nintendo replaces everyone’s Wii straps

Posted by inpheaux on December 15th, 2006 at 10:33 am

Do you have poor control over your arms? Do you flail around like a moron while playing Wii Sports? Do you profusely sweat buckets from your hands as soon as you pick up a controller? Well, after highly publicized cautionary tales of how you lot can be hazards to small children, yourselves, your friends, and your expensive electronics, Nintendo quietly started shipping Wiimotes and systems with newer, thicker straps.

Now they're giving them out to everyone. So if you've broken your straps already, or are just sitting there with a set of four tv-destroying time-bombs just waiting to go off, you can head over to this page at Nintendo.com and request some straps. Shipments are expected to start in about a week, but might not get to you until January, since this is the worst time to try to ship large quantities of things all over the country.

In the meantime, stop being idiots. Wii know you're all excited, but you DON'T have to actually throw your controller at Mach 8 towards your TV to nail a 90+ mph fastball. So stop trying.
