Hey! Remember Mercenaries? That game from a few years ago which no one understood why Lucasarts was publishing it? That game that was far more fun than it really should have been? Well it's back and slated for a big cross-platform release This winter.
Oh, and now EA is involved.
IGN scored an interview with Pandemic's Senior Producer Jonathan Zamkoff, who proceeded to spill the beans on the whole project. Here's the short version:
- Full title: "Mercenaries 2: World in Flames"
- Release date: Winter 2007 (estimated)
- Xbox 360, PS3, PS2 & PC simultaneous release
- Pandemic is developing, EA is publishing
- Online co-op multiplayer [!!!]
- New characters which are less cardboard
- New more-interesting locales
- Same wonderful blow-up-whatever-you-want sandbox gameplay
It really seems like this one is going to be tough to screw up. Now lets just hope they can actually get it out on target, without being rushed.
