Posted by Akaishi on July 17th, 2007 at 8:26 pm

Fans of Toribash, the ragdoll physics powered turn based fighting game, recently got a video vision of things to come with a youtube trailer for the upcoming version of the game. Toribash version 3 is reportedly coming in October, with an all new graphic engine that uses Shaders 2.0 for much more realistic abstract 3D [...]

Sony @ E3 2007 – Desperately Seeking Relevancy

Posted by inpheaux on July 11th, 2007 at 7:24 pm

Sony Press Conferences are even better to summarize because there's rarely anything of substance, and what does have substance is probably multi-platform.
So lets dive right in:
PS2: Sony reminded us that the PS2 does exist, and they are still totally supporting it! And then they promptly said "Oh but we aren't talking about PS2 stuff today." [...]

Nintendo @ E3 2007 – Numbers, Dates, the Zapper and … a Scale?

Posted by inpheaux on July 11th, 2007 at 12:59 pm

I like Nintendo Press Conferences because you can generally summarize them pretty easily.
Numbers: Shocking news - Reggie loves his charts & graphs and Nintendo is totally dominating everything when it comes to numbers. The DS now makes up a quarter of the console market, and somehow the GBA is refusing to give up its marketshare. [...]

Microsoft @ E3 2007 – Games, Games, Games and an Olive 360

Posted by inpheaux on July 11th, 2007 at 2:06 am

Microsoft's E3 2007 Press Conference has come and gone, and there was a rather massive dearth of really earth-shattering stuff. Much like last year, really. Hell, last year I didn't even do a recap.
Tonight's press event was all about games. Microsoft is past fiddling with hardware (maybe), and is seriously focusing on content. And it's [...]

PS3 $100 Price Drop Confirmed, Desperate

Posted by inpheaux on July 9th, 2007 at 7:43 am

This price drop story has been kicking around forever. It started ages ago as speculation, possibly hoping:
"Gee, I sure wish Sony would stop being ridiculous and drop the price of the PS3. You know, so normal people could actually afford the damn thing."
Then it turned to something we flat out expected:
"Aahaaahaaha Sony is getting crushed. [...]

Put your party hats on, it’s DirectionalPad’s 2nd birthday

Posted by inpheaux on July 6th, 2007 at 1:06 pm

Looks like we've managed to survive another year.
I don't really have a big well-thought-out post to celebrate the occasion, or even have promises of a ton of upcoming content, since we don't have any reviews in the pipeline at the moment.
Unfortunately it doesn't look like we'll be going to E3 this year, as we weren't [...]

Posted by inpheaux on July 2nd, 2007 at 2:07 pm

The Quake Wars Public-but-FilePlanet-exclusive beta has been going for nearly two weeks now, and over this time we've been doing our duty finding bugs and pointing out retarded crap that needs to get fixed. As such, Splash Damage & id & Friends have rewarded us with a patch to fix some of that retarded crap.
If [...]

Zelda: Phantom Hourglass coming sooner than expected

Posted by inpheaux on July 2nd, 2007 at 9:01 am

The latest in the Legend of Zelda series - The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass - was only released back on the 23rd in Japan, and we had previously been told that we'd be waiting until much later this year to get the non-moonspeak version, but it looks like Nintendo changed their minds. In a [...]
