Rock Band: 360/PS3 - 23 NOV 2007 for $170, PS2 - 10 DEC 2007 for $160
Posted by inpheaux on September 28th, 2007 at 5:05 pmWell, prices and dates are finally out, and frankly I'm pretty disappointed. Hear me out, OK. Sure, $170 is way better than $200, but there's only one version, they're making you buy a full set of Guitar, Drum Kit and Mic. I have absolutely zero interest in the Drums and Mic. Sorry guys, I just don't. I have a huge interest in the Guitar portion, but not so huge that I can justify plunking down $350 for an Xbox 360 and another $170 for a game, half of which I don't care about. Where's my controller-less version, for people who already have GH2 for the 360? Where's the guitar-only bundle, for me, the guy who just wants the true successor to Guitar Hero 2?
Ok, so that sucks, but here's problem #2: The release date. November's great and all, but the 23rd? The Friday after Thanksgiving? Black Friday, the most insane shopping day of the year? Are you serious? I can't tell if this is brilliant or incredibly retarded.
Now, of course, I'm probably going to cave in a big way, but that doesn't mean I'm going to like it.
The PS2 news is nice for those of you who refuse to be dragged kicking and screaming into the new generation of consoles. Can't find anything to complain about there, but I'm really interested in seeing how they plan on making it so you can have four people playing on a PS2 simultaneously, save for requiring you to have a Multitap.
Oh well, guess I'll go back to taking my aggression out down in Rapture.
Update! Looks like There are controller-less versions, for both 360 and PS3. I guess my complaint now is that the 360 wireless guitar is inexplicably $20 more than the PS3 one, which means the Mic and Drums only tack ~$32 to the price. If the price evens out to $59 for the game-only, $59 for the wireless 360 guitar, then I think I'll be pretty happy.
