The Quake Wars Public-but-FilePlanet-exclusive beta has been going for nearly two weeks now, and over this time we've been doing our duty finding bugs and pointing out retarded crap that needs to get fixed. As such, Splash Damage & id & Friends have rewarded us with a patch to fix some of that retarded crap.

Zelda: Phantom Hourglass coming sooner than expected

Posted by inpheaux on July 2nd, 2007 at 9:01 am

In a [...]

Posted by inpheaux on June 20th, 2007 at 7:43 pm

Having first effectively created the concept of unified online game distribution and then conquered it, Valve is looking to branch out. Next step for Steam? Community. Next month, Valve is planning on rolling out "Steam Community", a major upgrade to the Steam platform which intends to kill Xfire, and maybe take a stab at Teamspeak [...]

Geometry Wars now available on Steam

Posted by inpheaux on June 18th, 2007 at 11:37 pm

I don't think I need to give Geometry Wars much of an introduction. It's the runaway hit Xbox Live Arcade game about zooming around and killing neon squares that want you dead. We've previously covered one of the several freeware PC clones, but now the real deal is available on Steam for the bargain-basement introductory [...]

Last night, while we were experiencing our lovely downtime, quite a few people got all excited when it appeared that Fileplanet had posted a public beta for Enemy Territory: Quake Wars. There was no announcement, no details about it on the front page, and nothing about it being limited to subscribers or anything. Oh, [...]

Planned downtime coming up tonight

Posted by inpheaux on June 15th, 2007 at 4:01 am

Our hosts at 1&1 have apparently decided that our colocated server isn't where they want it to be, so our box is getting moved around tonight. So when you can reach us tonight, between 11:00 PM and 06:00 AM EDT, that'd be why.
We'll be back soon enough.

Game Informer Exclusive Bonanza Part 2: Rock Band

Posted by inpheaux on June 15th, 2007 at 1:39 am

Lips have been pretty tightly sealed over at Harmonix regarding Rock Band, the most incredibly complex music game in the history of music games, but they absolutely let loose in this interview.
First, lets get some track announcements out of the way. These are all original recordings, as it's expected most of the tracks in Rock [...]

Game Informer Exclusive Bonanza Part 1: Fallout 3

Posted by inpheaux on June 15th, 2007 at 12:12 am

We knew Game Informer's July issue would be ridiculous as soon as they flaunted the cover a week and a half ago. Fallout 3 and Rock Band exclusive first-looks? In the same issue? Seriously?
The issue is starting to show up in mailboxes around the country (and, of course, not in mine yet), so summaries of [...]
