E3 in serious jeopardy, possibly cancelled indefinitely
Posted by inpheaux on July 30th, 2006 at 2:57 pmSomewhat shocking news from inside the Electronic Software Association today: E3 is potentially over.
Depending on who you ask, E3 is either completely dead or due for massive restructuring. Speculation is presently running rampant, and the ESA staying relatively quiet on the subject, though an official announcement is expected tomorrow.
Next-Gen seems convinced that the show is [...]
DirectionalPad’s E3 2006 Coverage wrap-up
Posted by inpheaux on May 21st, 2006 at 2:18 amI know, I know . . "So inpheaux what's the deal? You get back from E3 and then don't post anything for a week?"
I've been busy, ok? 12,300 words of coverage and editorial insight don't write themselves. Even if they did write themselves it wouldn't be an incredibly fast process. It took me a week, [...]
E3 2006 Pictures are all up

E3 Pictures / Wrapup / Impressions / etc – SOON
Posted by inpheaux on May 13th, 2006 at 7:38 amWell, I just got back home from my week in LA. While boarding my flight out of LAX, a guy next to me was having some guarded conversation with his wife. They kept looking at me intently and going back to their conversation. As I had just finished three incredibly exhausting days, and was not [...]
E3 Day One Pictures
Posted by inpheaux on May 11th, 2006 at 9:37 amI promised I'd find time to do a proper E3 Daily recap, but yesterday afternoon I quickly found that I had seriously over-exerted myself and was accordingly the most exhausted I've been in years.
So while I don't have a ton of time to say everything I want to at the moment, as we're getting ready [...]
E3’s Main Event – The Wii Line
Posted by inpheaux on May 11th, 2006 at 9:17 amE3 is all about epic larger-than-life things. It's about taking everything normal and making it 50 feet tall so no one can miss it. Of all the things I saw during the first day of E3, one was clearly the largest: The line for the Nintendo Wii exhibit.
Nintendo's exhibit has two main parts this year. [...]
Nintendo @ E3 – Playing = Believing
Posted by inpheaux on May 9th, 2006 at 11:52 pmThismorning's Nintendo Press Conference had a rather simple focus: Software. It wasn't big on release dates or prices or new Wii features. In fact, the only new thing we learned about the Wii was that the controller has a speaker in it now, and that the formerly poorly named "a" and "b" buttons have been [...]
Square Enix @ E3 – All Final Fantasy, All the time (plus mobile phone games)
Posted by inpheaux on May 9th, 2006 at 5:29 pmI meant to find time yesterday evening to write up a report on Square-Enix's Press conference, but right as I sat down to start it, the Sony press conference started up. Luckily, I'm in the middle of a five-hour flight across the country right now, and that's plenty of time to write a recap.
Squeenix's Press [...]
Sony @ E3 – Games, Specs, Prices, Dates
Posted by inpheaux on May 9th, 2006 at 1:03 amI've got a plane to catch in about six hours, so lets make this quick. Sony's incredibly long press conference ended a few hours ago, and in between the long long long segments of clip after clip of drones explaining how the PS3 is going to "COMPLETELY CHANGE YOUR WORLD, MAN", Sony managed to squeeze [...]
Thismorning’s unscheduled downtime
Posted by inpheaux on May 8th, 2006 at 11:30 amJust wanted to update everyone about our couple hours of downtime. It looks like someone got excited and pressed the wrong button on our datacenter's DHCP server around 0300 EDT, and no one knew there was a problem until we told them. No big deal, though, all we lost was our sweet year and a [...]
