European DS Lite Price / Date set
Posted by inpheaux on May 22nd, 2006 at 6:04 pmNintendo of Europe has apparently decided to not screw their customers for a change. Not too badly, at least.
The announcement comes a couple weeks late and - conveniently - so will the release. Nintendo of Europe plans on releasing the DS Lite in all territories they serve on 22 JUN 2006 for the suggested retail [...]
Nintendo @ E3 - Playing = Believing
Posted by inpheaux on May 9th, 2006 at 11:52 pmThismorning's Nintendo Press Conference had a rather simple focus: Software. It wasn't big on release dates or prices or new Wii features. In fact, the only new thing we learned about the Wii was that the controller has a speaker in it now, and that the formerly poorly named "a" and "b" buttons have been [...]
Square Enix @ E3 - All Final Fantasy, All the time (plus mobile phone games)
Posted by inpheaux on May 9th, 2006 at 5:29 pmI meant to find time yesterday evening to write up a report on Square-Enix's Press conference, but right as I sat down to start it, the Sony press conference started up. Luckily, I'm in the middle of a five-hour flight across the country right now, and that's plenty of time to write a recap.
Squeenix's Press [...]
More Pre-E3 Nintendo News - DS Lite June 11th for $130
Posted by inpheaux on May 4th, 2006 at 1:13 pmNintendo's second major-announcement-shoe has dropped. A couple hours ago, Nintendo of America let loose the NA street date and price of the DS Lite: June 11th [just over a month from now], $129.99. Two curious things about this announcement, apart from the fact that it's a rather huge one that dropped before E3:
1) Only one [...]
Directional Pad Game Review Megapost
Posted by inpheaux on March 24th, 2006 at 1:59 amYou want reviews? Seriously? Great, because reviews are what I have to give. Six of them, in fact. Some of them were slightly delayed, but hey, we have games to play. With such a great lineup of stuff to play, it's fully understandable that we might get sidetracked.
So here's what we've got:
Guitar Hero - Sid [...]
Nintendo at GDC 2006 - Brain Age and Zelda:DS
Posted by inpheaux on March 23rd, 2006 at 6:08 pmOh, Nintendo. Why must you tease us? All week, people have been buzzing around, whispering rumors of super ultra huge news coming from Nintendo at their GDC keynote. Revolution release date? DS Lite stateside release date? Revolution official name [since "Revolution" has always been stated as nothing but a codename]? Some news about Twilight Princess?
No. [...]
Shadow of the Colossus cleans up at the GDC Awards
Posted by inpheaux on March 23rd, 2006 at 3:06 pmThe 2006 Game Developers conference has been going on all week and one of today's events was the presentation of the Game Developers Choice Awards, quite possibly the only videogame-related awards worth listening to.
The winners? Four games ended up taking everything: Shadow of the Colossus, Psychonauts, Guitar Hero and Nintendogs. I don't think I could [...]
Economic Theory in Action
Posted by inpheaux on March 2nd, 2006 at 11:41 amIn a free market when a product's quantity supplied drops and quantity demanded remains constant price will rise. This is demonstrated in the convenient depection to the right [the red arrow is the Bad Part], but it is also happening right now in Southeast Asia, much to the dismay of gamers. See, today is the [...]
Update: Opera for the DS Confirmed
Posted by inpheaux on February 15th, 2006 at 7:07 amOpera Software confirmed today what Reggie alluded to last week: Opera is coming to the DS. There isn't a whole lot to say about it right now, but it's only currently confirmed for a Japanese release this June. I think it's a safe bet that it'll be localized and eventually get a worldwide release, but [...]
New to the DS: voice chat, download stations, possible web browser
Posted by inpheaux on February 9th, 2006 at 3:35 pmKing_Andy, our resident Virtual Reality Specialist, tends to take every chance he gets to bemoan the fact that apart from Nintendogs, the only thing DS games seem to use the microphone input for is to detect blowing. Furthermore, he [and others, obviously] has argued that surely there's enough overhead in WFC to permit voice chat, [...]
