LucasArts’ Prez: Time is more important than Quality
Posted by inpheaux on June 17th, 2006 at 7:02 amFor anyone who's been attempting to play and enjoy recent games from LucasArts, a formerly epic game developer, this should seem like a no-brainer, but it's nice to see confirmation from up high. LucasArts cares more about deadlines than releasing good polished videogames.
Examine this wonderful quote from a recent interview LEC's President Jim Ward had [...]
Nintendo @ E3 - Playing = Believing
Posted by inpheaux on May 9th, 2006 at 11:52 pmThismorning's Nintendo Press Conference had a rather simple focus: Software. It wasn't big on release dates or prices or new Wii features. In fact, the only new thing we learned about the Wii was that the controller has a speaker in it now, and that the formerly poorly named "a" and "b" buttons have been [...]
Square Enix @ E3 - All Final Fantasy, All the time (plus mobile phone games)
Posted by inpheaux on May 9th, 2006 at 5:29 pmI meant to find time yesterday evening to write up a report on Square-Enix's Press conference, but right as I sat down to start it, the Sony press conference started up. Luckily, I'm in the middle of a five-hour flight across the country right now, and that's plenty of time to write a recap.
Squeenix's Press [...]
Directional Pad Game Review Megapost
Posted by inpheaux on March 24th, 2006 at 1:59 amYou want reviews? Seriously? Great, because reviews are what I have to give. Six of them, in fact. Some of them were slightly delayed, but hey, we have games to play. With such a great lineup of stuff to play, it's fully understandable that we might get sidetracked.
So here's what we've got:
Guitar Hero - Sid [...]
Mother 3 presents from Shigesato Itoi
Posted by inpheaux on February 6th, 2006 at 10:38 pmLooks like over the next few days we'll be getting Mother-3-related presents from Shigesato Itoi's Official Mother 3 website. The first present doesn't appear to be anything, but the second one has a minute and a half long mp3 from Mother 3 up for download. It's a simple little piano track, apparently the "Mother 3 [...]
Mother 3 gets a Japanese release date
Posted by inpheaux on January 24th, 2006 at 2:51 amStraight from Shigesato Itoi's website comes news that Mother 3 [or Earthbound 2] now has an official Japanese release date: 20 APR 2006.
Here's a translation of the announcement, via Starmen.net:
"Mother 3's release date has been set. It will be April 20th, 2006 (Thursday). At least it's spring. It'll go on sale before the start of [...]
Nintendo of Japan makes Mother 3 Official
Posted by inpheaux on November 7th, 2005 at 10:32 amI've got a quick little Monday-morning update on the status of Mother 3. Nintendo of Japan confirmed its existence today by putting up an incredibly sparse Japanese Official Site. The nice fluent-in-moonspeak people over at Starmen.net clarified that the bit at the bottom mentions that the game will be released in Japan in Spring 2006. [...]
Mother 3 “Nearing Release”
Posted by inpheaux on November 4th, 2005 at 4:13 amTwo months back we reported on what was then being theorized to be a formal announcement regarding Mother 3 - or Earthbound 2. It didn't happen. Now it has.
In a message posted to his website yesterday, Mother/Earthbound series creator Shigesato Itoi had this to say on the subject (as loosely translated by Tomato of Starmen.net [...]
Square Enix announces Even More Ports
Posted by inpheaux on October 5th, 2005 at 6:41 pmA few weeks ago, I lamented the fact that Square Enix was busy porting games around that no one cared about. This changed today. Today at Nintendo's "DS Conference" in Japan, Squeenix Prez Yoichi Wada announced three more ports, this time ones we care about.
First up, the obvious: Final Fantasy III (that's IIIj not IIIus, [...]
Nintendo pushes yet another GBA out the door
Posted by inpheaux on September 22nd, 2005 at 8:47 amNo, it's not the GameBoy Micro, it's the old standard GBA-SP. . . but now it has a new screen.
Specifically, it appears to be a GBA-SP-sized screen that uses the same brighter screen tech used in the GameBoy Micro. The updated units are reportedly hitting retailers this week, and it's coming in two colors, "Graphite" [...]
