Posted by inpheaux on January 25th, 2007 at 4:33 pm

Word on the street earlier in the week was that we'd be getting some hefty UT 2007 news today. As expected, we did. Also as expected, it's not all good. We just can't always have nice things, can we?
First change: The name. They've given up on the "Unreal Tournament 2007" name. The game is now [...]

Today, from the "didn't see that one coming" department, we have word from GameDaily that it looks like the development torch of the Guitar Hero franchise has been passed from Harmonix to Neversoft, developers of the Tony Hawk series of games.
There's no official announcement, no in-depth explanations, just the fact that Neversoft's website is split [...]

Posted by inpheaux on December 16th, 2006 at 5:37 pm

. . . If you're lucky.
For the past couple weeks, Amazon has been running a "Customers Vote" program, where every week they put up a selection of three products which are either hard to find, or are at a severely reduced price. The first deal they ran was an Xbox 360 Core system for $100. [...]

Gamespot deploys all-360 advertising for their PS3 subsection

Posted by inpheaux on November 30th, 2006 at 6:59 pm

Sometimes these things just write themselves.
Today, Gamespot unveiled a new overbearing gigantic ad-filled version of one of their pages. This is nothing new, and isn't the punchline. Most of us remember the glory that was McIGN, but I feel this goes a step (or seventeen) too far.
The page in question was their PS3 [...]

Posted by inpheaux on November 19th, 2006 at 2:10 am

Or some of them, at least.
I'm sorry that this is going to be a rather terse update, but I only have however long it takes for my Wii to update itself before I am compelled to begin pouring hours upon hours of my life into it. So here goes, five new reviews:
Sam & Max (Season [...]

Posted by inpheaux on November 17th, 2006 at 7:08 am

After all the shenanigans of the week, from PS3 lines getting hit by bb-gun drivebys, to Gamestop announcing that whoops they can't fill all their preorders, to lines being filled with homeless people paid to be there, to Gamestops being held-up at gunpoint just to clean out their four whole PS3s, Gamestop has somehow managed [...]

Wal-Mart breaks Guitar Hero 2’s street date by 2 weeks

Posted by inpheaux on October 26th, 2006 at 3:06 pm

News Flash: reports from the NeoGAF forums seem to indicate that some Wal-Mart locations have broken Guitar Hero 2's street date of 07 NOV 2006 by putting the game on shelves today. As usual with broken street dates, this could be a very localized thing, so check your local Wal-Marts before canceling your preorders elsewhere. [...]

Sony sues Lik-Sang into oblivion

Posted by inpheaux on October 24th, 2006 at 12:16 pm

In a shocking followup to a story from last week, where Sony successfully got the grey-market import shop Lik-Sang to stop exporting Sony products from Hong Kong to Europe, Lik-Sang has closed down entirely.
No further orders on anything will be taken. All un-filled purchases will be cancelled. Everything will be refunded.
In their going-away-notice, Lik-Sang had [...]

The Jack Thompson Comedy Tour continues: Bully cleared for release

Posted by inpheaux on October 16th, 2006 at 4:35 pm

Last week, our good friend Jack Thompson was cheering and patting himself on the back when he got a Florida appellate court to force Take Two to give them a copy of Bully to review as part of his hilarious several-month crusade against the game.
Well, they did. The Judge watched, and while he wasn't thrilled [...]
