Electronic Arts in Rock Band PAL Release: The Quest for More Money

Posted by inpheaux on April 8th, 2008 at 12:39 pm

After months of delays (six of them, in fact), EA has finally announced all the details of the PAL release of Rock Band.
You might want to sit down.
Here's the good news: It's actually finally being released! For reals this time! Also you get nine "exclusive" songs, though you might only actually care about one or [...]

Review Megapost: Shooters, Future Law, Gimmicks and Hobos

Posted by inpheaux on October 28th, 2007 at 8:01 pm

We've been holding onto this set for awhile. It just kept snowballing, you know? Well, here they all are in descending order of quality.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
BioShock - PC / 360 - The best single-player game I've played since System Shock 2.
Portal - PC / 360 (and eventually PS3) - The second-best single-player game I've played since [...]

BAD END: Bioware & Pandemic gobbled-up by EA

Posted by inpheaux on October 11th, 2007 at 7:14 pm

All bad news, all the time.
Out of nowhere, EA has decided that it would be super neat if they went ahead and bought-out Bioware and Pandemic, to build upon their game-development Empire of Doom. If they were another less-established pair of independent developers, sure, this would be pretty decent news, since it would mean stable [...]

Rock Band: 360/PS3 - 23 NOV 2007 for $170, PS2 - 10 DEC 2007 for $160

Posted by inpheaux on September 28th, 2007 at 5:05 pm

Well, prices and dates are finally out, and frankly I'm pretty disappointed. Hear me out, OK. Sure, $170 is way better than $200, but there's only one version, they're making you buy a full set of Guitar, Drum Kit and Mic. I have absolutely zero interest in the Drums and Mic. Sorry guys, I just [...]

Reviews: Puzzles, Hair Metal, and Transforming Metal

Posted by inpheaux on August 21st, 2007 at 12:15 am

Quick review post, as I need to get to sleep so I can wake up bright and early to play Bioshock when it arrives on my doorstep tomorrow morning.

Picross DS - Highly Recommended - This is easily one of the best values out there right now for the DS. There are potentially hundreds of hours [...]

Activision and Neversoft confirm Metallica’s “One” will be in GH3

Posted by inpheaux on August 3rd, 2007 at 9:51 pm

And it'll be a Master Track, naturally.
Unfortunately, this is another one of those news items where everything you need to know is going to be in the post slug. Activision just sorta tossed it in as part of a corporate conference call. There just isn't much else to say.
So here's a video from the field [...]

EA drops online support for tons of games

Posted by inpheaux on August 3rd, 2007 at 4:04 pm

EA, in their infinite wisdom, has decided that if you haven't upgraded your yearly sports games in the past two years, that you must not care about playing games online. So they don't need to support you anymore.
In one month, on 1 SEP 2007, EA will drop online support for the following games on the [...]

Sony @ E3 2007 - Desperately Seeking Relevancy

Posted by inpheaux on July 11th, 2007 at 7:24 pm

Sony Press Conferences are even better to summarize because there's rarely anything of substance, and what does have substance is probably multi-platform.
So lets dive right in:
PS2: Sony reminded us that the PS2 does exist, and they are still totally supporting it! And then they promptly said "Oh but we aren't talking about PS2 stuff today." [...]

Guitar Hero III Good News and Bad News

Posted by inpheaux on May 30th, 2007 at 11:49 pm

Update: 31 MAY 2007 @ 19:46:55
Looks like IGN just completely dropped the ball last night. They pulled the videos, and replaced the one of My Name is Jonas with a 100% run (to hide the fact that the full audio track was cutting out), and replaced the one of Slow Ride with a section that [...]

Guitar Hero III confirmed, headed to ALL PLATFORMS

Posted by inpheaux on May 23rd, 2007 at 1:22 pm

And I mean ALL OF THEM. PS2. PS3. 360. Wii.
Today, Activision announced the forthcoming third (or fourth if you count 80's) installment of the Guitar Hero series. The formula is staying the same, but with a few key upgrades:

Developer: Neversoft (For real, this time. Apparently Harmonix is still on board for 80's.)

Platforms: Everything. PS2, PS3, [...]
